The Institute of Cardiology was outfitted with a high-performance artificial intelligence-assisted computed tomography machine. According to the Ministry of Health, it is a unique device in Eastern Europe, which provides answers to all specialists’ questions, IPN reports.

Institute of Cardiology director Vitalie Moscalu said that without a correct and accurate diagnosis, operations cannot be performed successfully and in a timely manner. “The diagnosis possibilities of this equipment are enormous. First of all, we can analyze the heart muscle perfusion, can make a perfect hemodynamic diagnosis. I’ve spent 40 years in surgery. I made diagnosis of all kinds, but when I saw what images and possibilities this equipment has, I was surprised,” said Vitalie Moscalu.

Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco said that this is one of the 12 CT scan machines delivered to Moldova, which will be distributed to medical institutions. The installation process differs from institution to institution because the premises need to be repaired and, in some cases, it is necessary to change the entire electrical network of the block where the medical equipment is located. There are five centers that provide CT scanning and some of them work with old equipment, but all the 12 high-performance machines will be installed along the way.

The handover event was attended by President Maia Sandu. “We know how important the doctor’s skill is, but we know that it is equally important for the doctor to be helped by technologies, by modern devices. That’s why we endeavor to do our best. In 2022 alone, the state invested over 1.4 billion lei in equipping hospitals at national, municipal, district levels,” stated President Sandu.
