The results of the investigation into the repair of Alba Iulia St situated in Chisinau's Buiucani district will be announced in two weeks. Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu has told Info-Prim Neo that the entire street will be examined, not only the damaged portions as planned earlier. Nistor Grozavu said there was set up a technical group involving experts of the City Hall, the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure and representatives of the companies that executed the repair works. The group will analyze if the plan of action was observed and will question the building site chiefs and the officials who authorized the use of materials in the repair works. The first investigations show the quality of the asphalt is poor and that it was laid in cold weather. The first cracks on Alba Iulia St appeared in three months after the repair works were completed. 15 meters of road at the intersection of the streets Alba Iulia and Paris, and Liviu Deleanu St and the Principates Union Square contain fissures and holes. Alba-Iulia St was repaired during a month. The works cost over US$20 million. Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who maintains that a repaired road should be used for at least five years, ordered launching an internal inquiry and examining the materials used in the repairs. Two more streets repaired in 2010 are now crumbling. These are Trandafirilor St in Botanica district and Lech Kaczynski St in Telecentru quarter.
