Those who suffer from complex arrhythmias can benefit from diagnosis and treatment at the clinical electrophysiology lab of the Emergency Cardiology Department of the Cardiology Institute. The Institute’s vice director Aurel Grosu has told IPN that the persons are directed to this lab by cardiologists. The patients in a serious state are brought by ambulances.

In a communique, the Ministry of Health says the creation of this lab, which was outfitted with modern equipment, is one of the objectives of the national cardiovascular diseases prevention and control program for 2014-2020. The electrophysiology lab enables to provide highly specialized assistance to patients with arrhythmia. The lab’s analyses help to swiftly identity the place and mechanism of arrhythmia and the arrhythmic source is annihilated by using radiofrequency current.

Aurel Grosu said the lab has a rather big capacity, but the number of served patients depends on the financing received from the National Social Insurance Company. It does not provide services for money for medically insured persons.
