The Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order approved a legislative proposal to amend the Law on the Freedom of Expression and Access to Information of Public Interest. It envisions the simplification of requirements when asking for information and institution of sufficient control and liability guarantees for the violation or hampering of access to information of public interest, IPN reports.
The legislative proposal submitted by the PPPDA MP Vasile-Andrei Năstase ensures a balance between the right to the protection of personal data and the right to freedom of expression and excludes situations of erroneous interpretation of the mentioned aspects.
The bill is to be considered by Parliament.
