An initiative group calls on the people to take part in a protest aimed at consolidating civil society in Moldova in the Great National Assembly Square starting at midday on March 1. Those who want are invited to state their opinions on what is happening nowadays in Moldova.

Ex-MP Andrei Bashtovoi, one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence, in a news conference at IPN said that following the recent developments in the country, the state of affairs is now similar to a revolution. The ruling parties play criminal games, while the opposition parties cannot decide which of them is more correctly oriented to people’s interests. “Igor Dodon is at the final stage of seizing complete power. We are moving towards a precipice with vertiginous steps,” stated Andrei Bashtovoi.

Businessman Valentin Eşanu said the initiative of organizing the protest was formulated by him after analyzing the state of affairs in the economy, the justice sector. “Our goal is to obtain snap parliamentary elections and the removal of the government as this is a corrupt government that took part in different schemes, including thefts,” he stated.

A member of Moldova’s first Parliament Alexandru Arseni said the MPs of the 1990s are for the combination of forces so as to “save” society in the Republic of Moldova. “We have clear views and wish to live better, in safety,” he noted.

Student Ion Eșanu, a resident doctor, called upon the young people to come to the protest. “The Republic of Moldova is a beautiful state that should flourish and should not go to ruin,” he stated.

The organizers said their expectations of the event are not big, but are optimistic. Not much time remained for mobilizing the people, but they want to be heard by the citizens.
