Initial costs of e-Governance amount to MDL 17 mln

The Government will allot from the Fund for the National Strategy “e-Moldova” MDL 17 million to implement the Action Plan for the electronic Governance. This week, the Government approved the Action Plan for the implementation of the e-Governance for 2007. The funds will be used to work out and implement projects and programmes related to the Informational and Communication Technologies (ICT) within the frameworks of “Electronic Moldova” Action Plan, on the basis of previously presented proposals. According to the authorities, in the next ten years it is planned to implement several important projects in this sector: on the development of the legal and institutional framework, ensuring the operability of the e-Governance portal and other informational systems. These actions will enable to increase the possibilities of each person to receive e-services in such areas as education, health and others, easing the access to public knowledge and information etc. In 2006, ICT contributed 11% of GDP and made up MDL 4.5 billion. According to official forecasts, ICT contributions to GDP should increase by 1.5 to 2 percent yearly in 2007-2015, so that they reach 20 percent by 2015.
