Inhabitants of Aluatu village elected their mayor

The people in Aluatu village were able to elect their mayor in the rerun runoffs of the mayoral election.  According to the preliminary results, the turnout of voters was 24.90%, IPN reports, with reference to the Central Election Commission. 
 
The voting process in Aluatu village of Taraclia district ended at 9 .p.m. on December 17. The 188 valid votes cast were distributed as follows: 
 
1. Anatolie Gusarenco, Party of Socilists, 115 votes (62,17%); 
2. Elena Celac, Party of Change, 73 votes (38.83%). 
 
In accordance with the Electoral Code, the reurun voting is considered valid regardless of the turnout of voters. In the runoff vote, the candidate who polls most of the votes is declared the winner. 
 
On December 3, the residents of Aluatu failed to elect their mayor as only 79 people cast their ballots then. This is less than 11% of the voting-elibigle citizens.
