President Nicolae Timofti awarded the Order of Honor to the Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Ingrid Tersman in gratitude for her substantial contribution to developing and strengthening the bilateral friendship and cooperation relations, IPN reports.
In a communique issued by the presidential press service, it is said that Ingrid Tersman had a meeting with the head of state on the occasion of the completion of her duties in Moldova. Nicolae Timofti highly appreciated the diplomat’s contribution to developing the Moldovan-Swedish relations and the precious support provided by Sweden to Moldova in achieving the key foreign policy objectives, namely the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU. President Timofti also thanked Sweden for the numerous assistance programs implemented in different areas in Moldova.
Nicolae Timofti also conferred the Order of Honor on the president of the International Weightlifting Federation Tamas Ajan in appreciation of his special contribution to developing and propagating sport in Moldova, including weightlifting, and to improving the performance of the national athletes at international competitions. Before the ceremony, the head of state and Tamas Ajan conferred on the development of weightlifting in Moldova and abroad.
