Information Technology Ministry aims to develop ICT sector

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology started to formulate the plan of action for implementing the ICT sector development strategy for 2010-2013, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry.
The plan of action will be worked out with the assistance of the central public authorities, higher education establishments and ICT companies. The major activities that will be carried out in 2010 will be aimed at developing the ICT sector. Those interested can submit proposals to the Ministry by March 10.
The Ministry considers the plan of action important given the role of catalyst for economic growth and creation of new workplaces played by the ICT sector.
The main goal of the development strategy is to transform the ICT sector into a consolidated, efficient and competitive sector. The ICT sector in Moldova is composed conventionally of four industries: information technology, electronic communications, production of ICT equipment, and trade in ICT equipment.
The strategy defines the major problems hindering the development of the sector and proposes solutions for solving them. The principal goals of the strategy for the first two years are to create conditions for stimulating economic growth, remove the obstacles and promote Moldova’s ICT sector abroad.
