The Cabinet approved the concept of the Automated Information System “Waste Management” that will enable to more efficiently manage waste, IPN reports.

Thus, under the concept, the information about waste will be stored in an electronic register that will ensure the monitoring of the circulation of produced and collected waste. The information for filing in the register will be provided by authorized waste management companies. The digitization of information is expected to improve the activity of sector operators.

The database on waste management could be accessed by the public authorities, entrepreneurs and private individuals. This way, there will be facilitated the exchange of information between the competent authorities and the European Environment Agency. There will be ensured continuous and strict monitoring of related risks.

The creation of information resources will enable to implement the European List of Wastes, including hazardous ones. For the purpose, the waste management data will be stored and processed according to codes set in the EU.

In this connection, Prime Minister Pavel Filip requested the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment to work out a national waste management strategy as soon as possible.

“No information system solves the problem. It is an instrument that helps you to be more operative and to put things in order. We are waiting for the waste management strategy without which this information system has no substance,” stated the Premier.
