The information about the running of elections on Sunday, April 5 will be collected by the Central Election Commission through a centralized information system, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At a news conference on April 3, Vsevolod Polihmetov, the director of the company designated to ensure the transportation of the information from polling places to district councils and then to the Central Election Commission, said that there will be collected information about the opening of every polling place, the voting process and election results that will be used to draw up a report on the running of elections. The information about voter turnout will be provided at 9.45, 12.45, 15.45, 18.45 and 21.45.
Speaking about the situation in Corjoca village of Dubasari district, the CEC president Eugeniu Stirbu said that the situation there is now tense and the local and electoral authorities encounter difficulties in ensuring free and democratic elections. Nevertheless, the people there will take part in elections, Stirbu said.
According to him, the CEC made a call to the President of Moldova, the Government, the Joint Control Commission, the European Commission Delegation to Moldova, the Office of the EU Special Representative for Moldova, the OSCE and the Embassies of Russia and Ukraine in Moldova to guarantee security and provide assistance in ensuring democratic elections in Transnistria.
A sum of 40,427 lei was allocated for organizing and holding the April 5 elections.
The election registers include 2 598 875 Moldovan people with the right to vote. 14,500 ballots were printed for the voters living in Transnistria and 63,000 ballots for the Moldovans living abroad.
The lists of the election runners include 1,236 candidates. Out of these, 325 are women, 55 are members of the present Parliament, while 208 hold the nationality of another state or applied for another nationality.
