Informal 5+2 talks to be held in Kyiv

Informal talks in the 5+2 format will be held in Kyiv on November 16, and the improvement of the living conditions of the people living on the eastern side of the Nistru should form the main part of discussions, Radu Vrabie, program director at the Foreign Policy Association, has told Info-Prim Neo. “I suppose this round of talks is held to discuss the issues that must be settled before the OSCE summit in Astana. There they will decide on Moldova's declaration for the Astana summit”, Radu Vrabie said. Vrabie said that after each informal meeting the Transnistrian authorities become more cooperative as they understand the benefits that can be obtained as a result of these negotiations, like road constructions, school repairs and other opportunities. The mediators in the settlement process are OSCE, Russia and Ukraine, with the United States and the European Union acting as observers. There haven't been held any formal negotiations in the 5+2 format since 2006. The thirteen round of informal talks was held in Vienna in September.
