[Info-Prim Neo note:] 7 days before the second round of local elections, Info-Prim Neo news agency sent the below-mentioned questions to the candidates for Mayor General of Chisinau, Veaceslav Iordan and Dorin Chirtoaca. In the spirit of the Agency’s impartial and pluralist editorial policy, both candidates were asked the same questions. The Agency made sure the questions were delivered, and reminded repeatedly the responsible factors in the electoral staffs about its offer. The candidates ignored the interview, depriving thus the electors and the population of the necessary information, including on a qualified and conscious decision on election day. Info-Prim Neo is reminding these and other candidates and holders of public positions that, in a democratic society, which they claim to have guaranteed or about to guarantee, mass media represents the public, the society in general. The Agency considers that the refusal to offer information and opinions of public concern, especially during times at huge stake for the country’s destiny, equals ignorance of the society and shirking taking compulsory responsibilities by public people. The distribution open to the general public of the unanswered questions, after the voting sections closed, is according to the electoral legislation in force, and shows one more time the equidistant character of the media product of Info-Prim Neo News Agency. [Questions for the interview requested by the Info-Prim Neo News Agency to candidates to the position of General Mayor of Chisinau City, Veaceslav Iordan and Dorin Chirtoaca] 1. What do you think Chisinau and its inhabitants would benefit from, if they elect you as the General Mayor? 2. What would they have to lose if they elect your rival? 3. What changes will you make in the local public administration, which the population would appreciate as beneficial for themselves, in case you win the elections? 4. What resources and levers will you use to fulfil the electoral promises? 5. How do you see your role in managing the Capital’s affairs, if you get the support of the Chisinau Council’s majority and if you don’t get it? 6. Which political forces will you make coalition with in CMC, and which ones you won’t make coalition with, and why? 7. How do you think the electoral campaign was/is different in the second round voting for yourself and your rival?
