[Today, October 1, 2012, Info-Prim Neo News Agency celebrates 14 years of the appearance in the Moldovan media landscape. These were 14 years under the Info-Prim brand that we wanted to be years of honest, correct, high-quality and useful journalistic work, regardless of the difficulties.
It is first of all due to our honorable Subscribers that we managed to achieve a part of our objectives. They are those who have trusted us as a credible source of information and we are grateful to them for this. We dare to assert that we have a precious list of subscribers as very qualified consumers of information and this permanently keeps our professional responsibility standards high. We have the honor to write daily for the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, the World Bank Representative Office, the Representative Office of the International Monetary Fund, the OSCE Mission to Moldova, the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, UNFPA-Moldova, the Embassy of the United States, the Embassy of Great Britain, the Embassy of Sweden, the Embassy of Germany, the Embassy of Austria, the Embassy of Japan, the Embassy of Romania, the Embassy of Turkey, the Embassy of Lithuania, the Embassy of Georgia, the German foundation Hanns Seidel, the German foundation Konrad Adenauer, Open Society Institute, the Constitutional Court, etc. We highly appreciate that among our Subscribers of honor are also the main media outlets that work in Moldova, including Radio Free Europe, the public TV channel Moldova 1, the public station Radio Moldova, Pro TV Chisinau, Pro FM, Prime TV, Prime FM, 2 Plus TV, Publika TV, Publika FM, CTC TV, Jurnal TV, TV7, Radio Chisinau, Radio Retro FM, the periodicals Timpul, Saptamana, Adevarul Moldova, Cuvantul, Capitala-Stolitsa, Komsomolskaya Pravda-Moldova, Panorama, Moldavskie Vedomosti, Spros i Predlojenie. Another important category of skilled Subscribers includes relevant nongovernmental organizations and economic entities working in the country. Besides the aforementioned examples, we are deeply and sincerely grateful to all our Subscribers for the chance to be and to create.
We dare to think that the news of Info-Prim is easily identified on the television screens, radios, in periodicals and on news portals. We want the news of Info-Prim to become a distinct element of the “Info-Prim school” through which a lot of our former and current colleagues went over time. Sometimes we deem that if we put together the names of all those who had been and are our colleagues, we can encircle about a half of an imaginable ‘globe of the contemporary Moldovan journalism’ that consists of members of the journalistic guild. It has been hard to work at Info-Prim, but it was and will be instructive and useful for gaining professional experience.
14 years is not a big anniversary. However, it is an occasion for telling ourselves and others that we exist. It is an occasion on which we would like to make the current, former and future governments and the current, former and future political oppositions to pay more attention to the fate and role of the media in Moldova. We consider it necessary to reiterate this thought as in 2005, in the very middle of this period, the Agency, with its then name Info-Prim, was wrecked by the then political rulers – the PCRM and the PPCD, which believed that they were eternal. The time was again the fair judge because it ruled in favor of the then painful slogan of the team: “The horses do not die when the dogs want...”. Since then, some of the ‘dogs’ died, while others are close to death, politically of course... Not even the destruction, in other ways, of our companions in suffering from Antena C and Euro TV helped them. Torn apart, the Agency found the power and will to resist, to look for and find its place and duty in the difficult life of this country.
We hope that no media organization will ever again be put in the situation to publish such articles as our Agency had to publish then, with an outcry-title “Info-Prim No Longer Exists”, which we re-publish this year as a warning.
