Given all the circumstances existing in Moldova, the inflationist processes will most probably intensify after the upcoming parliamentary elections, Socialist MP Vladimir Golovatiuc was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel.
According to him, there will be increased risks that the national currency will depreciate if the National Bank of Moldova does not take systemic actions. The economy is the most solid basis that ensures the stability of the national currency and of prices. “As long as the authorities do not develop the economy, we can only hope for real stability,” stated the MP.
Vladimir Golovatiuc noted the ordinary people are affected by the valorization of the leu as they get less money when they exchange foreign currencies received from relatives who work abroad. ”For the first time, the volume of lei in cash in Moldova came to 19 billion. This is a huge sum,” explained the MP.
Economic expert Mihail Poisic said the leu and the dollar are resources and there is now no balance between these, while the demand decreases owing to the crisis witnessed inside the country. “The currency speculations after the elections could not be avoided,” he stated.
The ordinary parliamentary elections in Moldova will take place on February 24, 2019.
