Moldova will learn from the international experience of increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of companies by creating clusters, IPN reports, quoting the industrial sector cluster development strategy approved by the Government.
The cluster is one of the most spread association models for interconnected companies that are situated close to each other and belong to one and the same sector or related sectors and for scientific research institutions, universities and other organizations that focus on innovation. Their cooperation represents an instrument for increasing the competitive advantages of these companies by concertedly using the existing potential, exchanging knowledge and transferring technology.
According to studies, in Moldova there are preconditions for creating clusters in three areas: subunits of the processing industry (production of beverages); the light industry, including manufacturing of textiles, manufacturing of clothing items and footwear and production of leather and firs, and the industry of non-metalliferous products.
Under the strategy, the state support for cluster development of the industrial sector at the first stage will consist in the formulation of policy documents and promotion of the cluster model and its advantages in the business sector and in society. There will be designed a cluster map that will show the industrial branches with the highest development potential and advantageous conditions for creating clusters.
At the second stage, the state will provide assistance in running the created clusters and will stimulate the creation of new clusters.
“The joining of efforts of the industrial companies will enable to enhance the development pace of the industrial sector and will contribute to the economic and social development of Moldova,” said Deputy Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac.
