The chairman of the public association Center of Initiatives and Public Authorities Monitoring Ion Dron decided to run for the post of mayor of Chisinau as an independent candidate.
In a news conference at IPN, Ion Dron said he wants to become involved in the election campaign because he cannot remain indifferent. With 20 years of legal experience, he worked honestly, with unconditional devotion. He aims to stop the stealing of public money and thus decided to run for the mayoralty of Chisinau.
“I want to change things starting from the stair, courtyard, quarter, city,” said Ion Dron, adding he wants a city clean from corrupt, incompetent and indifferent people.
Ion Dron also said that he is not supported by political forces and will take part in the election campaign with his own forces, while those who support him do it based on principles of volunteering. “We want to build a city where the public administration will be a driving force, while the capital city will be an example for the country,” he stated, noting that he counts on the civic spirit of the people and hopes they will put their signatures to support him.
Ten units to collect the 10,000 signatures needed to be registered as an independent will be set up in the districts of Chisinau. The signatures must be collected by April 14. Afterward, Ion Dron will present his electoral program and will make public his views according to fields.
