Mihai Carlig is the candidate of the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) for the mayoralty of Chisinau. Mihai Carlig managed Chisinau’s Rascani district and earlier announced that he will run independently, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, PPRM chairman Alexandru Oleinic said this candidate was fielded by the party’s Rascani local organization. After carrying out a survey, the party decided that Mihai Carlig is suitable for the post of mayor general of Chisinau.

Alexandru Oleinic also said that the PPRM never called on the people to choose between Moscow and Brussels as it wanted the country to be ruled by people who put the people’s interests above everything. “But the authorities do not do so and the protest against the government, which involved about 50,000 people, proves this,” he stated.

For his part, Mihai Carlig said that during his eight-year tenure as head of Rascani district, he did only good things and showed that Chisinau can be transformed into a European capital. He added that he accepted to be the PPRM’s candidate because this party preserved in time its political vector.

Mihai Carlig promised he will be a mayor who will hear all the residents of the municipality and will never find excuses for the unsolved problems.

The PPRM’s electoral slogan is “Manager for Moldova. Welfare for the people”.
