The number of road accidents at crosswalks in Chisinau has increased, deputy head of the Chisinau Police Division Silviu Musuc stated in the October 23 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions. According to him, the absence of speed bumps is a cause for such a state of affairs, IPN reports.
Silviu Musuc said that speed bumps haven’t been put up at least near all the education institutions. These are present only at half of such institutions.
Most of these accidents occur during the day, when it is enough light to notice pedestrians. The drivers actually speed and do not keep the required distance between vehicles. The number of multiple-vehicle collisions also increased compared with the previous years, stated Silviu Musuc.
The 38 road accidents that happened in Chisinau municipality last week resulted in 47 persons hurt and one death. There were struck 14 pedestrians, three of whom were jaywalking, and 11 persons in crosswalks.
