Increase in electricity charges will be covered until December

Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu, said that the support provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova for paying for electricity will be directly reflected in the bill. Thanks to the support of the European Union, the electricity charge will be compensated for the first 110 KWh consumed by each family until December 2025, IPN reports.

"It is a support offered by the Government, with the help of the European Union, for all families in the Republic of Moldova. This support for the first 110 KWh consumed will be reflected in the bill," Minister Alexei Buzu said in the program "Black Box" on TV8 channel.

The minister noted that this measure is meant to support the population and encourage reasonable consumption of electricity.

"We analyzed the data furnished by electricity suppliers for January-March 2024. We found that, on average, a family consumes 138 KWh, and 110 KWh represents 80% of this consumption. We want to encourage the citizens to consume as efficiently as possible. A family that consumes 110 KWh will not be affected this year by the increase in charges," said Alexei Buzu.

The minister also said that the 705,000 families eligible for compensate for heat for February and March will receive the aid in the form of a monetary payment, while the support for electricity will be directly reflected in consumers' bills.

"For February, the compensation for heat will be paid in March and for March the compensation will be provided in monetary form in April," explained Alexei Buzu.
