Inclusive education in Hlinaia

A Resource Center for Inclusive Education was opened at the secondary school in Hlinaia village of Edinet district. It was set up under a partnership between the local public authorities and the administration of the school, with the support of the Inclusive Community – Moldova Project, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Inclusive Community – Moldova Project is implemented by Keystone Human Services International. In a communiqué, the organization says the aim of the resource centers for inclusive education is to facilitate access to education for children with special educational needs and children with mental or physical disabilities and to provide support to teachers, students and parents in promoting and implementing inclusive education. A multidisciplinary team composed of a psychologist, logopedist, medical worker, deputy director responsible for the education process will work at the center. It will work out individual education plans for these children. The center in Hlinaia provides assistance to 15 children, one of whom was reintegrated into the biological family from the Orhei boarding school. One of the objectives of the Inclusive Community – Moldova Project is to support the development of 15 inclusive schools in different regions of Moldova. The inclusion of about 200 children in school will be supported within this initiative. Until now, the project helped to integrate 23 children with mental disabilities into kindergartens, secondary schools and vocational schools. The project is supported by the Open Society Mental Health Initiative in partnership with Soros-Moldova Foundation and the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family of Moldova.
