Incidence of viral infections in children rising in Chisinau

The incidence of viral infections among children is rising in Chisinau. Municipal health department head Mihai Moldovanu told the City Hall's ordinary meeting on Monday that over the past week alone the Chisinau Emergency Service registered 391 such cases, as opposed to 275 the previous week, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the municipal education department head, Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, the rate of school attendance last week was 80 percent. But she supposed that not all the absenting children were sick. “We know only of 525 cases of acute viral respiratory infections in schools and kindergartens”, said Tverdohleb. Tverdohleb gave assurances that all the educational institutions were provided with enough warmth to prevent children from catching a common cold.
