“Angel Kânchev” University of Ruse will open a branch in Taraclia, as the outgoing government of Bulgaria decided. An agreement between the governments of Moldova and Bulgaria is being implemented in this way, IPN reports, with reference to Bulgarian media.
It is the first branch of a Bulgarian higher education establishment serving the Bulgarian community abroad. A significant number of Moldovan citizens of Bulgarian origin from Taraclia and Gagauz Yeri will gain access to Bulgarian higher education without separating from their families. This will contribute to maintaining “Bulgarian consciousness, preserving and promoting the Bulgarian language, history, culture and traditions in Moldova,” said the quoted source.
The studies will correspond to the programs of study accredited by the Bulgarian National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency or other agencies registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education. The lectures will be held in Bulgarian, Romanian and English and will be circumscribed methodologically and organizationally to “Angel Kânchev” University of Ruse.
By establishing a new level in the relations with Bulgarian ethnics and communities abroad, Sofia aims to assist their bodies, organizations and media to meet the information and communication challenges and create a high-quality and sustainable environment for their development.
Bulgaria focuses on the countries in its immediate neighborhood (Western Balkans) and the traditional Bulgarian communities in Eastern Europe (Ukraine and Moldova). The program aims to contribute to the formation of a public capable of combating disinformation and fake news, of orienting itself in a multitude of media and generating public resilience to external interference and information manipulation, noted the quoted source.
