In Mereni village of Albina commune in Cimișlia district, the rain mudded roads, gardens and cellars of people. Contacted by IPN, the mayor of the village Mariana Plahivîi said the situation is serious. The local commission for exceptional situations gauged the extent of the damage and the reports will be sent to Cimişlia, where a district commission will be convoked.
“We assessed the damage, but I don’t know how we can deal with the consequences. In Mereni, we face problems with the drainage channel that is adjacent to the district road. Last year, when there was heavy rain, we also experienced such difficulties. I made approaches to the commission for exceptional situations, the District Council, the Ministry of Agriculture… We, with our resources, cannot clear this drainage channel. If it is cleaned, the problem will not be so serious,” stated Mariana Plahivîi.
The mayor noted the drainage channel is old and hasn’t been cleaned on time to avoid such a situation. “We have 2 km of channel that needs to be urgently cleared. The farmland is also affected. In Mereni, the water stays at the surface,” said Mariana Plahivîi.
