Strengthening the rules-based global order is a common action priority for the Republic of Moldova as a partner state and for NATO as part of the Moldova – NATO Partnership. “During decades, the states have signed international agreements and conventions, approved resolutions in different areas that regulate the relations between the states, which provide that all are equal in rights, which ban the use of force in the relations between states. Currently, we see challenges threatening the rules-based global order. That’s why our common goal is to defend and strengthen rules-based global order in which all the states are obliged to obey the international legislation and the undertaken commitments and in which each state has the right to take independent and sovereign decisions as to the development path and model of ensuring security,” Veaceslav Yatsko, head of the NATO and Political-Military Cooperation Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, stated in a roundtable meeting held by the Information and Documentation Center on NATO in Moldova, being quoted by IPN.

“Promotion of the democratic values is another important direction. NATO is an alliance of values whose goal is to defend the common values of the member states, such as democracy, freedom, the rule of law, respect for the human rights, market economy and others. NATO contributed to the democratization of the countries in Central and Eastern Europe in the process of joining the Alliance. It also promotes these values in cooperation with the partner states. We speak about a Republic of Moldova-NATO Partnership based on these values,” said Veaceslav Yatsko.

NATO has 40 partner states on different continents. Each state sets the own objectives, commitment level, cooperation areas. “The Republic of Moldova benefits from assistance in strengthening the capacities of the security and defense sector, in improving the efficiency of the security and defense sectors and in training experts. For the purpose, the Republic of Moldova has a series of cooperation programs,” noted the official.

“Increasing resilience to the new security challenges and diminishing the exploitation of internal vulnerabilities are among the main objectives of the allies and the partners. Resilience is the first line of defense against the new threats. Emphasis is placed on increasing the resilience of information bodies, communication systems, critical infrastructure and on the capacity to provide critical services for the population in any kind of crisis. NATO’s experience as regards resilience is very useful for the Republic of Moldova.”
