In 2018, when the centenary of the Great Union is celebrated, the Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) staged 282 events all over Moldova as part of 86 projects, stated the Institute’s director Valeriu Matei. According to him, the high pace in n the organization of cultural events will be maintained in 2019, in the first half of which Romania holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, IPN reports.

Last year, there were also held more than 160 culturale events dedicated to the centenary of the Great Union. “I remind about those large theatrical reunions. Last year we had two such reunions – the Union of National Theaters that was staged for the fourth year and during all these years this event was supported primarily by the RCI. Over 2 million lei was provided in support to this event this year,” stated Valeriu Matei.

He noted that in 2018 alone, the Romanian Cultural Institute supported projects to the value of about 14 million lei. “In these projects, about 60% of the artists were from the Republic of Moldova, while 40% were from Romania and other European countries,” he said

The director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Chisinau said the Institute has very good cooperation relations with cultural institutions of the central and local levels. “We have a principle – any request to finance cultural projects made by private individuals or legal entities in the Republic of Moldova has the same value. Surely, we take into account only one criteria – the value – as we must promote the values,” stated Valeriu Matei.

Since 2013 until present, the Romanian Cultural Institute has organized about 2,000 cultural events in the Republic of Moldova.
