In 2007 Moldova could obtain the chance to export products on the basis of EU’ asymmetric trade regime

Moldova could obtain in 2007 the possibility to export Moldovan products on the basis of the asymmetric agreement with the European Union, the signing procedures of such an agreement could last 6 months, the Minister of Economy and Commerce, Igor Dodon declared on Tuesday, October 24.
According to him, at the beginning of October, within the frameworks of the Subcommittee II: “Commerce and Investments” from Brussels a positive appreciation was made regarding the fulfillment by Moldova of the conditions imposed by EU for signing the agreement. The minister mentioned that Moldova fulfilled the condition according to which the origin certificates must be issue by the Customs Service, fact that will be carried out starting July 1, 2006. At the same time, the condition by which the Moldovan side had to decide the way the goods from Transnistria will be exported to EU was partially decided, because the permanent registration ate the Chamber of State Registration, not the temporary one, allows to the Transnistrian economic agents to obtain the origin certificates. As well the list of products for which Moldova wants to obtain the asymmetric agreement and the detailed analysis was elaborated. In particular, it tackles the relations with the commercial partners, including Romania and Bulgaria, because the free trade agreements with this countries will be canceled starting January 1, 2007.
Moldova proposed to include in the list of autonomous trade preferences the alcoholic beverages, meat and meat products, milk and dairy goods, sugar, pastry-cook products.
In light of the fact that Moldova will obtain in 2007 the autonomous commercial preferences from EU (about 450 products), the export of goods from Moldova to Romania will benefit from a preferential treatment. As well, Moldova benefits from the Generals System of Preferences (GSP+) offered by EU, according to which 7200 groups of products (87.77%) obtain free access to the markets of EU.
