The post-Soviet thinking and behavior in Moldova can be eradicated by liquidating bureaucracy. This can be done quicker by implementing E-governance, consider experts of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative (IDIS) “Viitorul”. Leonid Litra and Cornel Ciurea made a study themed “How to get rid of post-Sovietism?” in concert with experts from Georgia and Ukraine, Info-Prim Neo reports. The experts analyzed the presence of post-Sovietism in Moldova, Ukraine, and Georgia. The three states were selected not only because they were part of the USSR, but also because they aim to become EU members. The experts examined the phenomenon from political and social viewpoints. According to the study authors, the post-Soviet political system implies full control. The political arena is dominated by nepotism, while the legal aspects are only decorative. The services in the post-Soviet area are of a poor quality, while the business and legal environments favor corruption. Leonid Litra and Cornel Ciurea consider that the Europeanization and socialization will help the Moldovans to get rid of post-Soviet thinking. They recommend ensuring regional experience exchange and improving the education standards. The participants in the presentation of the study said it is very hard to change the population’s mentality and this process requires time, will, and education.
