Implementation of Association Agreement could be monitored by Parliament

A special commission for monitoring and reporting on the process of implementing the Association Agreement with the EU could be set up in Parliament. An initiative to this effect was registered by the group of eight MPs of the Liberal-Democratic Party, who voted the Filip Government, IPN reports.

According to the Parliament’s press service, the authors suggest that the given commission should represent a mechanism for continuously assessing the legislation and the carrying out by the public authorities of the roadmap for implementing the Association Agreement.

“The commission will thoroughly examine all the areas stipulated in the Association Agreement. In this process, the commission will cooperate with representatives of the Government, competent institutions and public associations together with which it will formulate proposals for improving the legislative process of implementing the Association Agreement,” the authors says in the informative note to the bill.

The special commission will consist of 12 MPs who will represent different parliamentary groups and commissions. It will quarterly present a report to Parliament on the implementation of the measures and commitments stipulated in the Association Agreement. The report will contain information about the Implementation of the Association Agreement, the bills adopted in this regard and the level of fulfilling the tasks as well as a series of recommendations, including by the special commission, the EU Delegation to Moldova and civil society.

The authors of the bill are Ion Balan, Stefan Creanga, Valeriu Giletski, Aliona Gota, Vladimir Hotineanu, Nae-Simion Plesca, George Mocanu, and Mihaela Spatari.
