Impassable roads and flooded yards in Dereneu village

The roads in Dereneu village of Călărași district became impassable and many of the domestic yards were flooded after the May 19 rain. The village’s mayor Elena Oaserele said a number of local bridges are close to collapse. The local lake is overfull and the levee can any time yield. The village was in power outage last night, while several electricity poles in the neighboring village Bularda risk falling down.

Elena Oaserele stated for IPN that they sought help. The competent district commission is examining the situation on the spot to gauge the extent of the damage.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the heavy rain in Donici and Camenca villages of Orhei district damaged 0.1 km or local roads and swamped the gardens in about 60 private homes. In Dondușeni district, a number of villages were affected. In Arionești village, the roofs of two granaries were seriously damaged and the levees of four ponds were destroyed.

As many as 120 ha of corn in Dondușeni village and the protection levees of two ponds in Parcova were damaged. In Târnova and Elizavetovca, 30 ha of crops were affected. In Sângerei district, the rain destroyed 100 ha of crops. Rescuers pumped water out of cellars and basements in most of the stricken villages.
