Since the COVID-19 vaccination campaign was launched in Moldova, the immunization rate has increased to over 11% in the case of the first dose and to about 5% in the case of both of the doses. The health authorities warn the vaccination process became less intense and call on the population to get vaccinated so as to reach the set vaccination rate of 70%, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Angela Paraschiv, head of the Epidemiology Department of “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that 538,879 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far. Of those immunized, 152,910 got both of the doses. Over 60% of those vaccinated are men and more than 80% are persons older than 40.
Angela Paraschiv said that 60,000 vaccine doses were administered the past week. The people should continue to get vaccinated as the danger of infection still persists even if the number of infections declined.
About 1,400 adverse events have been reported so far, with 94.1% of them being mild, while 5.9% being moderate.
Moldova so far received 1 032 790 COVID-19 vaccine doses. To get a vaccine, the people can go to the family doctor or can schedule an appointment for vaccination through www.vaccinare.gov.md.
According to the Ministry of Health, Moldova by June 15 got 255,830 infections with the novel coronavirus. The death toll from COVID-19 stands at 6,154.
