The outgoing Government demonstrated unwavering commitment to advance ambitious governance reforms despite extraordinary challenges, stated Ruben Atoyan, of the IMF, on the occasion of resignation of Prime Minister Gavrilița.

Atoyan issued a statement to thank Prime Minister Gavrilița and her government for the “dedication, hard work, and outstanding service to Moldovan people”.

“Despite extraordinary challenges, her Government demonstrated the unwavering commitment to advance ambitious governance reforms. The significant achievements of the past year and a half inspire confidence that a solid foundation has been laid for the better future of Moldova”, the statement reads.

“The IMF stands ready to continue supporting Moldova by extending financial support and policy advice to ensure agile response to the multiple shocks, continued progress on structural reforms, and accelerated economic development of Moldova”, added the IMF official.

After the resignation announced on Friday by Natalia Gavrilița, Dorin Recean was designated to become her successor. A year ago, he was appointed defense and security policy advisor to President Maia Sandu. Earlier he served as minister of the interior in the Filat and the Leancă Cabinets.
