The association Promo-LEX considers that the first formal meeting in the 5+2 format resumed after a pause of five years must center on the immediate and unconditional release of persons held illegally on Transnistria’s territory. The meeting will take place in Vilnius on November 30 – December 1, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, Promo-LEX says all the necessary efforts should be made to see if the rights of the persons held by the Tiraspol administration are respected and if they are not subject to torture and inhuman treatment. The jurists of Promo-LEX consider measures should be taken to identity and implement legal and credible juridical instruments and mechanisms that will guarantee the rights and fundamental freedoms of the Transnistrians. According to Promo-LEX, among the persons held illegally in Transnistria are Vitalie Eryomenko, Alexandru Ursu, Iurie Matchenko, Alexandru Baluta, Eugen Antonov, Eduard Elitsov, Vasile Fricatel, Oleg Filin, Ostap Popovskii, Mihail Rotari. Their cases are pending at the European Court of Human Rights.
