Alexandr Vinitski, the father of Ilie Cazac who is detained in Transnistria on espionage charges, has to undergo daily intravenous drip therapy after the 18th day of his hunger strike. Stela Surkichyan, the mother, was hospitalized at the Emergency Hospital on the 14th day of their hunger strike. Stela Surkichyan told Info-Prim Neo her husband developed a heart problem for which he needs to go to hospital every day. The man refused hospitalization, accepting to go for himself to the hospital for a couple of hours, while his tent outside the Russian Embassy in Chisinau would be guarded by his brother-in-law and his younger son. Ilie's mother is also put under perfusion and even ate a beet yesterday. “I wish to get well to be able to further fight for my son. I will continue my hunger strike as soon as I'm able to return to our tent”, says Stela Surkichyan. Ilie Cazac, 24, was a tax inspector in Bender before being arrested in March on charges of treason and spying in favor of Moldova, under which he faces 20 years in prison. His parents haven't seen him since, and are unaware of his place of imprisonment and his condition. Stela Surkichyan and Alexandr Vinitski believe Russia, as a powerful mediator in the conflict, may put pressure on the Transnistrian authorities to free Ilie.
