The situation related to the EU macro-financial assistance generates dissentions in society and in Parliament and this makes the snap parliamentary elections become rather probable, journalist Ilia Kiselev stated in a public debate entitled “Why did conditions for receiving EU macro-financial assistance become an apple of discord?”, which was staged by IPN Agency.

He noted that the witnessed tensions are in the interests of no one, including of the Party of Socialists, but a normal dialogue with the EU cannot be kept at any cost. “For example, some of the moments of the Law on Nongovernmental Organizations are very inconvenient. We are proposed to adopt a law that in a year or two years will make the NGOs more important than the political parties. Moreover, it is not appropriate to propose adopting a law that wasn’t adopted in all the EU countries, especially in Hungary,” argued Ilia Kiselev.

He underlined that the Prime Minister and the President warned about the necessity of reassessing some of the conditions for providing macro-financial assistance as these prejudice the state. “It seems that Moldova has three tasks: to take out a loan, to raise this only from the EU and only in the conditions imposed by the EU. I would prefer the assistance offered to Moldova by the EU to include the augmentation of export quotas for Moldovan products and not to affect the sovereignty of the state by the conditions imposed for disbursing the macro-financial assistance,” stated the journalist.

The public debate “Why did conditions for receiving EU macro-financial assistance become an apple of discord?” was held in the framework of the project “Overcoming stereotypes of European integration through communication” that is implemented by IPN with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
