MP Ilan Șor, who was stripped of legislative immunity on Thursday, made harsh accusations against the government, saying those who stole the billion now form part of the Party of Action and Solidary. He noted that he is stripped of immunity every time the country is in a social crisis, IPN reports.
In a comment, Ilan Șor said that his immunity in the current legislature was lifted about ten times and this happens whenever there is a new social crisis. “When you don’t have what to offer the people, you sell them my immunity. Do you really think that all the people around are idiots!” he wrote.
According to him, those from PAS are interested in hiding the truth about the bank fraud and its real beneficiaries as they form part of the scheme. “We watched a new part of the satirical serial entitled “God Times” that shows what state the country can reach when deceitful people disguised as “good people “come to power. These “good people” who gained full power last year are not new in Moldovan politics, as some naive people still believe. On the contrary, they are very old in politics. Moreover, the country is thrown into chaos every time they come to power,” wrote Ilan Șor.
Ilan Șor remained without immunity on May 26, after acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu presented relevant requests in Parliament over reasonable suspicions that Șor committed money laundering and swindle.
In June 2017, Ilan Șor was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for his role in the $1B bank fraud. On August 15, 2019, Ilan Şor was stripped of parliamentary immunity. In the elections of July 11, 2021, Ilan Șor won a new seat of MP, but hasn’t attended any of the Parliament sittings.
