Ilan Shor was chosen as mayor of Orhei town with the votes of almost 62% of the voters who took part in the elections, show the preliminary election results with 100% of the votes being counted, IPN reports.
Almost 8,000 voters of the 13,000 who cast their ballots voted for Ilan Shor. Vitalie Colun, of the Liberal Democratic Party, came second with over 12% of the poll.
The Orhei Town Council will be 41% formed of councilors of the Sociopolitical Movement “Ravnopravie”. The Liberal Democratic Party polled over 11% of the ballot, the Liberal Party – 10%, while the Democratic Party, the Electoral Bloc “European People’s Platform of Moldova” and the Party of Socialists – by about 6% each.
