Ilan Shor said that he will cooperate with the investigation bodies and that he has confidence in the law enforcement bodies. The businessman’s statement comes after anticorruption officers carried our searches at his home and questioned him at the National Anticorruption Center. Ilan Shor is suspected of signing a contract by which 10 billion lei was transferred to Banca Sociala when he headed the Administration Board of Banca de Economii, IPN reports.
“We inform that Ilan Shor answered all the questions and expressed readiness to cooperate so that the investigation goes smoothly. Moreover, Ilan Shor trusts the actions of the law enforcement bodies and is interested in the started investigation, which is designed to establish the real situation at the two banks and to bring the speculations on the issue to an end,” reads a communique issued by Shor Holding.
On February 6, the officers of the National Anticorruption Center and anticorruption prosecutors carried out searches within two criminal cases started over the release of bad loans by Banca de Economii and abuse of power by members of the Administration Board of Banca Sociala. Searches were performed at companies based in the IPTEH Building in central Chisinau and at the homes of members of the administration boards of the two banks.
Politologist Olga Nicolenco considers the escorting of Ilan Shor to the National Anticorruption Center could be a signal for businessman Renato Usatyi, who aims to run for the mayoralty of Chisinau.
