Of 1,240 public and private education institutions, 19 institutions and 301 classes apply distance learning owing to quarantine. 284 students have been confirmed with COVID-19 and 7,186 students are self-isolating. As many as 373 teachers got infected and are self-isolating. Also, 72 members of the auxiliary staff contracted the virus, IPN quoted Minister of Education, Culture and Research Igor Sharov as saying in a news conference.
According to the mister, the number of infections in education institutions increases at the same pace as in society. The school is not the main source of infection with the novel coronavirus. Field data show the children are safe at school and kindergarten. Restrictive measures should be taken where three is no other solution, but these should be very well analyzed. The schools that will face cases of infection will switch over to online learning.
Of the 1,398 public and private early education institutions, 1,096 reopened, while six institutions and 18 groups are in quarantine. Four children and 67 teachers were confirmed with COVID-19, while 453 children and 107 teachers are self-isolating.
Igor Sharov called on the managers of education institutions and teachers to make sure that the anti-pandemic measures are obeyed so as to minimize the risks of infection.
