Through the vote cast yesterday in the elections for the European Parliament, the Republic of Moldova enters the electoral map of Europe and Romania, said the leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity Igor Grosu, Speaker of Parliament. According to him, the Moldovans this time proved that they are Europeans and that they care about the big European family, IPN reports.

Igor Grosu told a press conference that the Moldovans voted for those who will make Moldova’s voice heard in the European Parliament. The Moldovan voters were exemplary – 56,714 in number, being the most active voters from outside Romania. And this figure represents an increase of 50% compared to the previous European elections.

“By out vote, we demonstrated maturity, saying “no” to political extremism and populism and that Moldova believes in democracy. Congratulations to the National Liberal Party for the results obtained in the Republic of Moldova, but also in Romania. In the Republic of Moldova, over 55% of those who voted chose the joint list of candidates of the National Liberal Party. Thus, thanks to the vote expressed yesterday, we will have members in the European Parliament who will negotiate on an equal footing with their colleagues from Parliament to achieve more good things for Moldova, Romania and for the whole of Europe,” stated the PAS leader.

In his opinion, this presence is a strong argument that the people of Moldova have a say in the direction in which the European Union is going. “Congratulations on the results achieved by the largest political group in the European Parliament – the European People’s Party, which includes both the Party of Action and Solidarity and the National Liberal Party. Together, with such strong allies, we will work so that in 2024 democracy wins, and democracy is defended by voting, as was done in the local elections, in the European Parliament elections, and as it is to be done on October 20. We will prove as always that our voice is strong, that we are Europeans and that we care about the future,” said Igor Grosu.
