After the executive bodies of Parliament are elected in the course of this week, President Maia Sandu will probably invite the parliamentary groups to consultations to announce the Party of Action and Solidarity’s candidate for Prime Minister, PAS acting president Igor Grosu announced in a press briefing, IPN reports.
According to the MP, the PAS’ representatives who will form part of the Cabinet will also be made known after the Prime Minister is nominated.
Igor Grosu noted he will inform in Parliament this Thursday if he will serve as the Speaker or not. He confirmed that he remains in Parliament.
The PAS leader said the party welcomes professional and devoted persons who abide by the PAS’ objectives, including from extraparliamentary parties, the academia and other good people from Moldova, for being proposed for posts on the Cabinet.
In another development, Igor Grosu said the first Parliament sitting was interrupted because this is a protocol meeting to invest the eleventh legislature. Until Thursday, the parliamentary parties will have discussions to agree the composition of the administrative bodies of Parliament.
“Even if the Parliament’s regulations allow for a period of ten days for constituting Parliament, we respectfully asked for mobilization so that this is done faster. We are returning to normality, not to a race for posts. Until Thursday, discussions will be held on the nominal composition of the Standing Bureau, the candidates proposed for speaker, deputy speakers, chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, secretaries of commissions, the nominal composition of each commission,” stated Igor Grosu.
He noted that the given approach was discussed with the opposition, BeCS. These agreed initially, but then changed their mind. PAS will cover all the legal procedures leading to the election of the Parliament’s administrative bodies.
