The acting president of the Party of Action and Solidary Igor Grosu said he considers his nomination for Prime Minister is a difficult mission that he treats very seriously. In the immediate period, he will have discussions with the parliamentary groups and inside the National Political Council of the PAS so as to see how his desideratum to clean up the political class can be achieved, IPN reports.

“My desideratum remains the necessity of cleaning up the political class and of having a responsible and legitimate Parliament that would develop the country in the interests of the citizens,” Igor Grosu posted on Facebook.

He noted that as the candidate for Prime Minister, he started to attract valuable people to the governmental team and is working on the government program that is based on several key priorities, namely: efficient fight against the pandemic and economic crisis; vaccination campaign; restoration of normal living conditions for all the citizens; swift removal of schemes and corrupt people from institutions, agencies and state-owned enterprises, and triggering of snap parliamentary elections.

After consultations held with the parliamentary groups on March 16, President Maia Sandu said that she took note of Marianei Durleșteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy for premiership and, as there is no candidate supported by a formalized parliamentary majority, she decided to propose PAS president Igor Grosu for Prime Minister. On March 17, the Party of Socialists challenged the presidential decree in the Constitutional Court and announced that they would present another candidate for Premier.
