Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu reaffirmed in Kyiv Moldova’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace in Ukraine and Europe. He also reaffirmed the support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statements were made at the Forth Summit of the Crimea Platform, which brought together official delegations from a number of countries and was hosted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, IPN reports.

Speaker Grosu thanked the Ukrainian soldiers for their resistance and their love for the country. “If there is peace in Moldova today, it is only because of the heroism of the Ukrainian people, who fight for Europe and its values on the battlefield and we, the Moldovans, cannot disappoint. Through our vote, we will demonstrate that we want to be part of a world of peace and freedom,” stressed the official.

On the sidelines of the event, Igor Grosu had a meeting with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk. The two officials discussed the latest events in the region and referred, in particular, to the consequences of the Russian attacks that have been intensified in the recent past.

“The Republic of Moldova is making all the necessary efforts to help the Ukrainian people with everything we can, including within Ukraine’s Peace Formula. Today we have about 60,000 Ukrainians who benefit from temporary protection,” said the head of the legislative body.

Also, Igor Grosu referred to the actions taken by the Republic of Moldova in order to support the Ukrainian people. “We joined international efforts to free the kidnapped Ukrainian children and also adopted a declaration in the plenary sitting of Parliament. We have also joined the Council of Europe’s damage register, to ensure that Russia will pay reparations, because what is happening in Ukraine is genocide. We will continue to stand by our Ukrainian neighbors and peace in Ukraine will certainly be restored,” noted the Speaker.

The agenda of the Summit of the Crimea Platform included four panel discussions, which focused on Crimea and the Peace Formula, the reintegration policy, Ukraine’s successes in the Black Sea and the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the deportation of the Tatars from Crimea. On this occasion, a national memorial dedicated to the Stalinist genocide of the Crimean Tatars was inaugurated.
