The abandonment of customs duties for Moldovan fruit and vegetables for at least half a year is one of the most important results of the visit paid by President Igor Dodon to Moscow, Socialist MP and politologist Bogdan Țîrdea was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel.

“About 90% of the Moldovan fruit and vegetables are exported to Eastern markets, mainly Russia. This is the most important matter that will give an impetus to economic growth,” stated Bogdan Țîrdea.

Igor Dodon also informed about his agreements with President Vladimir Putin concerning the more profound amnesty for Moldovans working in Russia. “About 200,000 Moldovan citizen could ultimately feel relaxed as of January 2019,” he stated.

Political analyst Vitalie Andrievski said the fact that President Igor Dodon visits Russia and holds negotiations that produce some positive changes  is absolutely normal, but we should understand the nature of these changes and what they offer to the Republic of Moldova. “We should see if this is something serious that will last long or is a political game of Russia,” stated the analyst.

According to him, ex-Premier Vlad Filat signed the Free Trade Agreement with the Commonwealth of Independent States, but Russia excluded Moldova from this area for the reason that the state signed the Association Agreement with the EU. “The Associations Agreement remained, but Russia included us again in this are for six months. Where is the guarantee that Russia will not like something in six months and will exclude us again from this zone?” asked Vitalie Andrievski.

President Igor Dodon paid an official visit to the Russian Federation on October 31 and November 1.
