The leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon said on February 23 it will become known if the Republic of Moldova can turn from a parliamentary state into a presidential republic only based on a decision adopted by the Constitutional Court, IPN reports.

“If the CC reviews its decisions of 2015 and 2020, the President will be able to bar the activity of any Parliament, to dissolve this and to trigger snap elections as many times as necessary, until a majority consisting of members of the party or of allies of the President is formed in the legislature,” stated Igor Dodon, being quoted in a press release of the PSRM.

The Constitutional Court on February 16 rejected the request to suspend the effect of the President’s decree of February 11 by which the candidate for Prime Minister was nominated. The Court decided that the public meeting in which the application submitted by Socialist MPs Vasile Bolea, Grigore Novac and Alexandr Suhodolski will be examined will take place on February 23, starting at 10am.
