President Igor Dodon said he will not take part in the festivities that will be staged in Transnistria to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of the peacekeeping mission. In a posting on Facebook, he noted the decision was taken together with the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky following the July 28 provocative actions aimed against the Russian delegation, IPN reports.

“We will meet later, separately, to continue the discussions on the rapprochement between the two banks of the Nistru. I will act firmly to reunify the territory of the Republic of Moldova despite the challenges and provocations staged by those who want Moldova to be weak and politically and financially subordinated. Moldova has a future as a neutral and integral state, despite all those who are against statehood,” wrote Igor Dodon.

Earlier this week, President Dodon said he will take part in the festivities in Transnistria and will confer state awards on Russian peacekeepers in appreciation of their mission in the region. A delegation headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin was to also take part in these events. The Russian official didn’t yet arrive in Chisinau as the plane by which he was flying had to return. On a social networking side, Rogozin wrote that “the Romanian authorities endangered the lives of the passengers of the S7 Airlines’ flight that included women and children. Wait for an answer, rascals”.

Romania didn’t allow the plane to enter its airspace for the reason that the passengers included persons on whom the EU imposed sanctions following the annexation of Crimea. Rogozin is among these.
