The November 30 elections were undemocratic and the Socialist Party will do everything in its power to trigger early elections within the next few months, stated the party's leader Igor Dodon at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Socialists are ready to cooperate in the Parliament only with those who support the denunciation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and will endorse their plans for a national referendum on the country's foreign policy. The Socialists invited the Communists to cooperate. “However, regretfully, they have chosen differently. They have chosen to collaborate with those who they once called oligarchs and bandits. We are inviting the ordinary Communist members to take a look at our cooperation program for the future. We want to make it clear that we won't collaborate with the Euro-Unionist parties, and we won't collaborate with the PCRM if it chooses to collaborate with them”, stressed Igor Dodon.

He announced that the Socialists' top priorities in the Parliament will be, apart from denouncing the AA and holding the foreign policy referendum, to introduce the “Moldovan” language in schools, to introduce the election of the President by popular vote, and to come up with solutions for to develop real economy.

Igor Dodon also announced that the Socialist Party's recent national assembly decided to nominate Zinaida Greceanyi to lead the Socialist group in the Parliament.

On a different note, Dodon invited civil society to create mechanisms to control the government.

Following the November 30, the Socialist Party won 25 seats in the 101-seat Parliament.
