“We will have a lot of work to do during the next two days in Moldova and there is a chance of avoiding the snap elections,” stated President Igor Dodon. He said he returns from St. Petersburg to Chisinau earlier than planned, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon left for Russia on June 5 to take part in the 23rd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. In St. Petersburg, President Dodon had a number of meetings, including with members of the administration boards of “Gazprom” and “Sberbank”.

In a posting on Facebook, he wrote that on the sidelines of the International Economic Forum, he convened a meeting of the Moldovan-Russian Economic Council and this involved the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak. “I informed the members of the Council about the last domestic policy developments in the Republic of Moldova as a result of which a parliamentary majority and a new government could be formed based on the principle of a balanced foreign policy. I assured the Russian investors that this will serve as a guarantee for securing the means invested by them,” he stated.

Two days ago, the PAS announced it is ready to vote in a Socialist nominee for Speaker, to assume an ACUM Government and to vote the package of anti-oligarchic laws. Later, the PPPDA requested the Socialists to sign a public commitment by which to promise they will vote a Government led by Maia Sandu in the next sitting of Parliament and the package of anti-oligarchic laws.

The Party of Socialists convoked its National Council for June 7.
