The authorities are not examining the possibility of stopping economic activities or the education process amid the rising number of infections with the novel coronavirus, IPN quoted President Igor Dodon as saying after the ordinary meeting of senior state officials.

The official noted the business entities should be given the possibility of working. If cases of infection in education institutions are reported, decisions will be taken in relation to a separate institution or locality.

“Evidently, we are concerned about the high number of infections witnessed last week. The medical system is ready to cope with the situation. The occupancy rate at children’s hospitals is now at 40%, while at hospitals for adults at 75%. There are places in hospitals and the situation is under control. Moreover, the things needed to cope with the pandemic in the Republic of Moldova, such as medicines, tests and consumables, are available,” said President Dodon.

According to him, it is very important that Moldova obtain the vaccine faster. The authorities made an official request to the Russian authorities to provide the COVID-19 vaccine immediately after this goes through all the international authorization stages.
