President Igor Dodon on his Facebook page announced that he had a telephone discussion with the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky, with whom he agreed to continue the dialogue so as to identify solutions and further build confidence between the people from both sides of the Nistru, IPN reports.
President Dodon noted that in particular they discussed the situation in the Security Zone, primarily in the villages of Dubăsari district, Cocieri, Vasilievca, Molovata Nouă, Roghi, and in Copanca village of Căușeni district. The locals can reach the right bank of the Nistru only by ferry. This state of affairs is a consequence of the measures taken by the Transnistrian bodies in the fight against COVID-19, which generated serious problems for the inhabitants of the given villages.
“We were unanimous in the opinion that reciprocal measures should be taken to simplify the movement of the inhabitants between the two sides of the Nistru. I reiterated that Chisinau will make sure that the taken measures or actions do not affect the rights of the people living in the Transnistrian region. Together with Mister Krasnoselski, we agreed on the opportunity of taking action to protect the people from infection with the coronavirus,” wrote Igor Dodon.
“Undoubtedly, the people’s health is the supreme value, but assistance should be also offered in solving the socioeconomic problems.”
